CAPT. DAN D. "OX" OXLEY
(Flight Commander, 55th. FS/20th.FG)


Dan D. Oxley, originally of Cogswell, North Dakota, was assigned to the 55th.FS/20th.FG on 14 June, 1944 and by 9 October became a Flight Commander. He flew a complete tour of 270 combat hours with the 55th.FS before returning to the ZOI on 2 December, 1944.

During his stint with the 20th.FG, Oxley was credited with destroying a Fw-190 on the ground, two Do-24s on the water and damaging a Ju-88 on the ground. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with 7 clusters. The Computer Consultant of the 20th. Fighter Group Association, Oxley resides in Washington state with his wife Audrey.
