Mighty Eighth Air Force Heritage Museum, Savannah, GA

8th.AF insignia

The display, as it currently appears. The background is a photograph of the top 20th.FG ace, Ernest Fiebelkorn and in the center is a brief explaination of the 20th. Fighter Group's activities. The rest of the display contains Leo Kern's original A-2 jacket, Gale Turner's Class A jacket, John Hudgens' dog tags, an original 20th. FG patch, a 20mm shell, a champagne cork from a premature victory celebration, a sewing kit, the control stick from a German fighter plane, the insignias of the 55th., 77th. and 79th. Fighter Squadrons and Headquarters Group, and a few other small items.

After a meeting between the curator and staff of the Museum and the representatives of the 20th. Ftr. Grp. Assoc. it was decided that the display needed to be changed to better represent the Group's achievements. I am hoping to be able to add the pictures of the display once it has been redone.
